Recent Work
In February there was more snow in Yllästunturi in the Finnish Arctic Circle than over the previous ten years. These images were taken in and close to the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, protected from development for winter tourism. Rami's husky business and Hannu’s reindeer farm are two of just a few businesses allowed to operate within the Park itself.
With temperatures dropping to -12 C I had to keep my camera and batteries warm, so each day I used 2 disposable hand warmers which worked a treat along with a hard protective case to reduce the wind chill on the camera body and protect from bumps and snowmobile crashes. I also got used to varying the exposure compensation in the positive (+.3 to +2) to allow for correct exposure of the bright snow although we had heavy snow cloud each day.
